Costa: We’ve Peaked!
We are thrilled to announce that they did it! The dedicated Costa Malta team took on the renowned Costa 3 Peaks Challenge, and they nailed it – managing to scale no less than three of the highest peaks in the UK – Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales – all in just 33 hours.
As a result, the team successfully raised a whopping €11,000 for the Costa Foundation, which it will use to help build better lives in coffee growing communities around the world by building schools and providing an education for all. But that’s not even the whole story – the Malta team actually managed to secure the coveted ‘Superstar Award’ in the challenge, because, of course, they are superstars!
The Challenge
Every year, Costa teams from all over the world take part in 3 Peaks. Teams are always made up of eight people – including five walkers and three drivers (the latter of whom ferry the walkers from one peak to another – taking them between Scotland, England and Wales in the fastest time possible).
Of course, this was no easy feat and our team has been working seriously hard over the past few months to ensure they were ready – both in terms of having the fitness levels required to manage the mountains, and also to raise those much-needed funds.
The upshot? We are so proud that they proved hard work pays off.
The Foundation
As with all our fundraising efforts here at Costa, money raised goes to the well-deserving Costa Foundation. Dedicated to helping improve the lives of those living in our coffee-growing communities, this independent charity improves the chances of boys and girls by providing them with the opportunity for a quality education. Foundation schools deliver both academic and extracurricular programs that enhance health, gender equality and environmental awareness.
The €11,000 we raised, along with the €11,000 donated by the Corinthia Group, will go a long way towards helping the Foundation achieve its goals, and we couldn’t be happier to have helped! Nothing feels better than knowing we’re changing children’s lives, one school at a time.
Now, it’s time for our 3 Peaks Team to take a well-deserved post-peak break… but not for long! Stay tuned for news of more opportunities at Costa as we set our next fundraising goal.
